I absolutely love your drawings. I also love that you didn’t just give up on the meditation (I often give up on things) and you made it work for you. You’re a writer, you didn’t acknowledge your thoughts and then let them go to clear your mind, you wrote them down. Thank you for sharing this! Us readers and fans of yours gain so much from you, because you make us feel that we’re not alone. 💙

This is a beautiful reminder of how so many small pieces of life can come together to create the idea for a book, and how so many more sparks of inspiration and community will lend itself to a writer finding "the end". Thank you for sharing and shining, Jo! <3

I really can't imagine how I would function without our writing community. Thanks Brittany!

Oh, yes, truth can be messy. I liked what you wrote about honesty, necessary even if it is painful. I also recognized the idea that we write to "shed light on things we know need to be exposed. To inspire dialogue about things we need to talk about." That is in a nutshell one of my strongest incentives to write about the topics I choose (and then publish the results). That ideas come, just as you say, from our hearts is to me a bonus. I like to look at the heart as a melting pot for input from my mind, my emotions, my soul and my gut.

Dear, dear Jo,

This was the perfect post for me to read today, as I navigate the aftermath of my mother's death last month. So many of your experiences in Covid resonate so strongly with me, and while I was a much more cautious kid than Maple (or you), those parental words certainly rang a famliar note. I can't wait to read Maple--and will be glad when my life evens out and I find my way back to story.

Thank you so much, Kathy! I tried to send you a message recently after hearing your wonderful piece with Erica Heilman but it bounced! I'm glad I get a chance to tell you now. I'm so sorry for your loss. xoxo

Oh thank you! Erica Heilman asks the best questions, and I enjoyed doing that interview immensely.

I think I have your email, so I'll use it to send you mine.
